The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle no longer use the title “Royal Highness”. Now they are not eligible for the public funds to serve the royal duties.
Buckingham Palace has announced that Harry And Meghan are no longer the official representatives of the queen. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that they are ready to repay £2.4M of taxpayers’ money that they took for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage.
The Queen said, “She had many months of conversations with Harry and Meghan and we found a middle path for her grandson and his family”. Harry, Meghan, and newborn Archie will always be much-loved family members of my family. And she felt very proud of Meghan and how quickly she became one of the core parts of the family.
Queen also added a special message for Meghan Markle, which read as, “I am… particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family. It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life”.
The great palace confirmed that the royal couple was required to withdraw the title and royal duties of official work related to military appointments.
“While they will not be able to represent the Queen formally for a long time, the Sussexes made it clear that everything they were doing will be continued to uphold the things and values of Her Majesty,” the great place holder said.
It also added that the couple would continue to manage and maintain their private associations and patronages. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released an update on their official website named Sussex Royal. It has been updated to remove references related to the HRH titles published on the opening page.
Daniela Relph, BBC royal correspondent told BBC Radio “When both Harry and Meghan released a statement that what they wanted, they talked about stepping back from royal duties that means they are stepping away entirely. Both Prince Harry and Meghan said all this in a press conference about their private life, especially the birth of their first son, Archie.
