Reliance Entertainment and filmmaker Rohit Shetty join hands again for biopic on one of Mumbai’s most revered top cops. Also, the former Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, Rakesh Maria.
The biopic will be based on the experiences of his accomplished career. Also, Ace filmmaker Rohit Shetty himself will mentor the same.
Sharing the news about the biopic, the official handle of Reliance Entertainment shared, “Rohit Shetty & Reliance Entertainment to produce former Mumbai Top Cop, Rakesh Maria’s biopic.

Rakesh Maria, an IPS officer, cleared his Civil Service Examination from the 1981 batch. As Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in 1993, he cracked the Bombay serial blasts case. Moreover, later moved to DCP (Crime) and then Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), of the Mumbai Police.
Maria solved the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts case. Maria also headed the responsibility of investigating the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008.
And, interrogated Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive, he also successfully investigated the case.
Meanwhile on the work front, Rohit Shetty is currently busy shooting for Indian Police Force, for Amazon Prime. The film stars Siddharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Vivek Oberoi.
Rohit Shetty is also collaborating with Ranveer Singh for Cirkus, starring Ranveer Singh in a dual role alongside Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma. It is officially adapted from Angoor (1982) which was based on Shakespeare’s play The Comedy of Errors.
It also features Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn in special appearances.
